The Student Design Awards.08 - What's all the fuss about?
The POPAI Student Design Awards recognise excellence in design for retail display, as submitted by you - design students in the UK & Ireland.
The competition is run on an annual basis by the retail trade association POPAI (which stands for Point-of-Purchase Advertising International) and students from around the UK & Ireland submit their designs and case studies to a brief set each year by a top brand sponsor- Walkers Crisps for 2008.
What do I have to do?
This year's entry deadline has now passed, but watch this space for exciting news about the 2009 awards. You will need to submit a design for a fit-for-purpose point of purchase retail display or merchandising unit, as well as a short case study looking at the strategy and thinking behind your entry.
What can I win?
Win the Trophy - Students compete for the NJM Trophy, in memory of former POPAI Vice Chairman Nigel Johnston-Maude who tragically lost his fight against cancer in 2003 and was deeply committed to the development of our industry.
Win the Cash - Winners share a total prize pot of £2,500 but money isn't everything (so they say!) - your design will be judged by a panel of top employers from global brands, retailers and design agencies - what better way to have your talent and design skills put in the shop window?!!
Win the Job - Two lucky entrants will win the 'POPAI Student Design Scholarship' - a full time, salaried job with P-O-P producers Capital or arken for a full year! Working in their creative department, you will get hands-on, client-facing creative experience of the retail marketing sector, working with brands and retailers.
